Now the schools are back, this is the perfect time to explore Norfolk, visit bustling Swaffham and stay at Holly Lodge; our rather special Bed & Breakfast.
We are a pleasant 25 mile drive to the delights of the north Norfolk coast and its plethora of stunning sandy beaches, villages and traditional seaside towns with lots to do, including seaside walks, ice cream, fish & chips, bracing air, tucked away harbours to explore, beach huts and a heaped spoonful of nostalgia!
Holkham Beach (pictured below) was recently voted “Best Beach in the UK” in a survey of International travel writers.
We have a number of guide books in the bedroom for your perusal providing details of Kings Lynn, Hunstanton, Titchwell, Holt, Burnham Market, Wells-next-the-Sea, Blakeney, Sherringham and Cromer, which are all easily reached by car.
One of our favourite days out is to Wells-next-the-Sea; lots of tucked away interesting shops, Holkham Hall, fresh crab sandwiches with fries and the wonderful beach at Holkham.
Did you know?
Norfolk has over 90 miles of coastline (even more when the tide is out!) meaning half its overall boundary is next to water.
You could…
Walk the Norfolk coastal path, see the chalk reef off Cromer or discover King’s Lynn, our local county town with more listed buildings than York. The original medieval harbour is a delight too! Talking of royalty, why not visit Sandringham which is just 18 miles away from Holly Lodge and is open from April to October?
One final Norfolk fact, the humble fish finger was invented in Great Yarmouth in 1952. Who would have thought back then it would become a key component in a posh sandwich!
We look forward to welcoming at Holly Lodge very soon.
